What is SYNVISC®/
SYNVISC® and Synvisc-One® (hylan G-F 20) are gel-like fluids used to treat pain associated with OA. They are viscosupplements that are biologically similar to hyaluronan. Hyaluronan is a component of synovial fluid that is responsible for its viscoelasticity. Synovial fluid lubricates the joint and acts as a shock absorber.
SYNVISC® is used in the knee, hip, ankle and shoulder while Synvisc-One® is used in the knee joint.
SYNVISC® provides pain relief that can last up to 26 weeks. Prospective clinical data in knee OA patients have shown benefit of treatment up to 52 weeks.*
